Viessmann Vitocal 200-A ie Cascade Heat Pumps

The Viessmann Vitocal 200-A ie Cascade range provides a flexible solution for applications requiring greater heating capacity than a single heat pump can provide.

Vitocal 200-A ie V131 cascade outdoor units can only be used with a Vitocal 200-A ie Basic or Universal heat pump system.
The Basic or Universal system provides the lead heat pump and system control, with the V131 operating as a lag heat pump within the cascade.

All Vitocal 200-A ie cascade systems must be commissioned by a Viessmann Service Engineer.

Up to three V131 lag heat pumps can be connected to the lead heat pump, allowing system capacity to be increased according to the heating requirements of the property.

Vitocal 200-A ie Cascade Systems

The Vitocal 200-A ie V131 is designed specifically for cascade operation. Unlike a standalone Vitocal 200-A ie system, the V131 is supplied without its own control unit and operates as a lag heat pump under the control of the lead heat pump.

The lead heat pump coordinates the operation of the cascade according to system demand. Up to three V131 lag heat pumps can be connected, providing a scalable solution for larger heating applications while retaining the modulation and system control capabilities of the Vitocal 200-A ie platform.

Efficient R290 Monobloc Technology

Vitocal 200-A ie cascade outdoor units use natural R290 (propane) refrigerant and monobloc construction, with the refrigerant circuit contained within the outdoor unit. Variable-output inverter technology allows the heat pumps to adapt their operation according to system demand.

The V131 range is available in B06, B08, B10 and B12 sizes, with a maximum heating water flow temperature of 75°C.

Ball Valve Filter or Dirtstop XL

Each V131 output size is available with either a Ball Valve Filter with Magnet or a Dirtstop XL Heating Filter.

The heating filter is installed in the return and forms part of the Vitocal 200-A ie R290 safety concept. Viessmann specifies the Ball Valve Filter with Magnet as the minimum filter requirement for new-build installations.

For modernisation projects, Viessmann recommends the Dirtstop XL Heating Filter or alternatively the Ball Valve Filter with Magnet together with an on-site dirt separator.

Cascade Installation

V131 lag heat pumps communicate with the lead Vitocal 200-A ie heat pump via bus communication cables. These are available separately in 5 m, 15 m and 30 m lengths, together with the hydraulic and installation accessories required to suit the individual cascade configuration.

Vitocal 200-A ie cascade systems should be designed, installed and commissioned in accordance with the relevant Viessmann technical documentation.
